Dell Primary School

Safeguarding

Dell Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Safeguarding Policy which can be viewed in the policies section on our website. All visitors to our school must sign in at the school office. Visitors who have a current DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) will have a grey lanyard. Visitors without a valid DBS check will wear a yellow lanyard and will be accompanied by a member of school staff at all times. Staff employed by Evolution Academy Trust wear a green staff lanyard.

Designated Safeguarding Leads

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Westrup, alternate  Safeguarding Leads are Mrs Halliday, Mrs Moyse and Miss Moss. Our chair of Governors is Mr Mark Chapman, who can be contacted via the school office.

Early Help Offer

We recognise the challenges that families face and that there may be times when you need further help or support. If this is the case, please do not hesitate to speak to us, as there may be ways in which we can help.

Our Early Help offer includes signposting to other agencies:

-Mental Health Support Team for Schools (MHST)

-CAHMS

-School Nursing Service

-Attendance support through the school attendance team and the Education Welfare Officer (EWO)

-Suffolk Young Carers

-Early Help Assessment (EHA)

Early Help Assessment

In addition to school support and referrals, we can help families complete an Early Help Assessment. This is where we map out what is working well for a family, as well as any particular worries or things that are currently making things difficult at home. If it is agreed that extra help is needed within the family home, a Family Support Practitioner from the Lowestoft Family Support Team will be allocated to help support the family. This is usually a short term offer of over 6-8 weeks, depending on what support the individual family needs.

Child Protection

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies, when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare. Referrals will be made to the MASH team at children's services if we are concerned about a child's safety.

If you are worried about a child's safety please do not hesitate to contact us via telephone: 01502 565956 and ask to speak to one of our designated safeguarding leads (DSLs).

Alternatively, you can contact the Suffolk Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (Customer First) via telephone: 0808 800 4005 or via their website: https://suffolksp.org.uk/working-with-children-and-adults/multi-agency-safeguarding-hub-mash/

 Prevent

We actively support the Government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism. Through our PSHE curriculum and assemblies, we teach children to be tolerant of and to value differences and other cultures.
